I'm Cheering For My Father - A Great Hockey Fan
As kids we never missed watching a hockey game from the time we got our first TV when I was 11. Tonight I as sit here watching the Olympic Canada / Russia game I can hear him cheer, shout, moan, and groan.
Although he has been gone for many years now I still can't watch a hockey game with out thinking of him. He was the greatest fan of Saturday Night Hockey I know. Although he was a Canadian he loved the Detroit Red Wings but his His favourite games were the Habs / Leafs.
I'll never forget the night Barrie asked his permission to seek my hand in marriage. All my father wanted to talk about was the game from the night before.
Dad I am cheering for you tonight!!!

Go Canada Go!
What a lovely tribute - but just to keep things on an even keel, I'm rooting for Team USA. Do you believe in miracles?!?!?!?!
Michael
Hi Kathy...Dad would be happy, we just thumped Russia 7-3 :O))
Kathy, What a nice tribute. Isn't it funny the things that become important to us because they were important to our parents?
Kathy,
What a beautiful memory to share with us...your Dad is surely watching down over you and smiling.
Hockey Night in Canada was one of the few television programs we were allowed to watch as children. The song is etched in my memory forever.
GO CANADA GO!
Jo
Robert - Thank you and we did Yesterday was a great day for Canadian Women at the olympics
Michael - Like my Father indeed I do even if it takes 45 years and a lot of hardwork and team effort to make it happen
Fred - he would be floating on air
Carole - They say we are in part a product of our environment and for me my parents shaped that environment.
Kathy - I'm sure your dad was there with you - I can feel my mom's presence also, in important events
Jo - I find it amazing the difference between when we were growing up and today. Like everything else TV has changed so much. I do not believe the changes in TV programming have been good for society as a whole.
Dagny - It would have been the highlight of his day.
GO Canada GO!!! Nice tribute. Great to see the personal side. And people are important. Thanks for sharing Kathy!
Yvette - Today he would have been cheering regardless of who wins. To Dad Hockey is Our Game (North America's)
